Rev. Fr.Alexander Pattara (Chandy) (1784 - 1838 )

Rev.Alexander pattara, ( 1784-1838 ) eldest of the 2nd generation was born as the eldest son of Chandy Chandy & Thresia. He was named Chandy. As a young boy he was very religious and wanted to be a priest. So he left the family for studies in seminary. Since he left the native at very young age and worked at different places as a priest his detailed history was not known to the local people. He was ordained as a priest in the year 1812. It is recorded that Fr. Alexander pattara played major roll in establishing a new church at Muhamma (St.George Church ) and making it a parish church in the year 1826. For the construction of the church, he raised fund with the permission of Varappuzha, diocese. After his death his mortal remains buried in the St. George Church, Muhamma. However in the absence of plaque the burial location in the Church was not identifiable. The subsequent generation did not take initiative to identify the location and to shift the remains during the reconstruction of the church. Hence his Kallara is not available in the Church. But there is enough evidence to show that his body was buried inside the Church. In the minutes of the parish meeting held in 1925,October 4th it is seen a decision was taken to burry the 22 teeth of the priest which he preserved in his personal carry box at original burial place inside the church. But the later development are not available.
