5th Generation Vakey Chandy ( Vavachan 1910-2001 ) : Chandy born on 18.12.1910 was the eldest son of Chandy Vakey and Ealikutty , Chathamangalam. He was affectionately called Vavachan and he was vavachan sir for the public. Chandy lost his father at the age of seven. He was good at studies. After completing his primary education in local schools he joined St .Aprem High school Mannanam and completed his high school education and subsequently passed intermediate from S.B. College Changanacherry. Chandy wanted to join a seminary to continue his education to become a priest. But due to family circumstances his mother, grandfather and other family members did not agree. Finally Vavachan married Mariam daughter of Luis and Mariam Thannikkal, Muhamma. Later Vavachan purchased Thannikkal house and purayidom and settled there. The couple had two daughters Kunjamma and Pennamma. When Pennamma was three months old Mariam, Chandy’s wife expired at the age of 28, on 11.03.1944 Chandy was also a good singer and had mastered harmonium & fiddle. He led the church choir and also was the head master of Sunday school for a very long time. Chandy expired at age of 90 on 05 01 2001
